Sabine Schut-Kery, born in 1968
in Krefeld, Germany, began riding at the age of ten. Sabine spent three years studying with Jan Bemelmans and passed
the exam in 1989 to become a "German Government Approved Trainer". She continued training for seven years,
with Stephanie Meyer-Biss. |
| She brings to Proud Meadows fifteen years experience in training and competing through
FEI levels. In addition to Friesians Sabine has been quite successful with a variety of other breeds as well. She
is very forward thinking in her style of training, and refuses to dwell on the negative, preferring to train with
positive reinforcement. Not only does Sabine possess the ability to develop competition horses from training level
through Grand Prix, but she is also quite skilled in alternative movements for exhibitions, such as Spanish walk,
bowing, the lay down, the sit position, and rearing on command. Sabine's years of designing innovative and intricate Pas de Deux and Quadrille work, as well as her ability to coach and establish TeamGeist (German: team work), has enabled her to delight crowds far and wide. Not only does she develop patterns to excite her audiences, but her appreciation of many styles of music allows her to bring that added "flair for the dramatic" to any performance. Her other comprehensive skills include sidesaddle and tandem riding and driving. The training program and choreography of all exhibitions are Sabine's responsibility at Proud Meadows along with being the head instructor. With her wide-ranging knowledge she also has been an integral part in choosing the Proud Meadows "Forward Moving Friesians." She has trained and competed baroque horses since 1983. In addition to her work baroque breeds, Sabine has been quite successful with a variety of other breeds as well. Not only does Sabine possess the ability to develop competition horses from training level through Grand Prix, but she is also quite skilled in alternative movements for exhibitions, such as Spanish walk, bowing, the lay down, the sit position and rearing on command. Sabine uniquely earned the USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medals exclusively riding Friesians. Her greatest accomplishments have been in open dressage competition. Sabine competes three to four stallions at different levels per event. She was honored to have been the one to have trained and ridden Tinus to Second Level Horse of the Year in 1999, to Third Level Horse of the Year in 2000, and to Fourth Level and Prix St. George Horse of theYear awards in 2001. Also in 2000, Sabine trained and rode Jorrit to First Place in Prix St. George. These were the first Friesian stallions to successfully compete at Grand Prix levels. |
